The Hula Girls - Hula! Hula! Bang! Bang!

You’re probably thinking, “The Hula Girls? Are they some Hawaiian infused Pop girl group?” No in fact, they’re four fellas from Costa Mesa, California; Spike Marble on guitar and vocals, Christian Kessler on upright bass, Doug Sanborn on the drums and Shorty Poole plays the steel guitar. But they do in fact have  the hula-a-go-go dancers, Miss Audrie Loraine and Miss Judy Luck who occasionally join them when they’re playing a bigger stage.

The Hula Girls play Hulabilly, which is a concoction of 50’s Rock ’n’ Roll/Rockabilly, Hillbilly, early 60’s Surf, and of course Hawaiian music that brings a refreshing sound to the music scene like a cold Mai Tai while under the sun.

They’ve released a two song single Hula! Hula! Bang! Bang!. Opening up with the title track, hitting you like a coconut falling from a tree to your head, okay enough of the island references. This is a real catchy number, and you seriously won’t stop singing “Hula Hula Bang Bang”. They’ve released a music video for their song “Hula! Hula! Bang! Bang!” and I can’t quite figure out why I love this music video so much. I mean the song is great, the band is rockin’, it’s colorful, but besides I don’t know why I love this music video, just something about it. Anyways... give it a watch!

The second and last song “Rock Around the Island” takes you back to those early 60’s beach parties. You’ll want to grab your surf board for this one or just leave the board on the sand and just jive on the sand. Another catchy one! These two songs are a lot of fun and the perfect listen to brighten your day.

You can purchase these songs here. And if these two songs aren’t enough for you, pick up their 2010 release “The Curse of the Tiki” while you’re at it!

So step aside Beach Boys, here comes The Hula Girls!
